Wanted free ride and money to boot

Randy Murphy, 29, of Thomasville was arrested after trying to take advantage of a good samaritan Saturday morning.

According to the victim, he had picked Murphy up at Cuzz's in Thomasville and was going to give him a ride.

Murphy then began to demand money, $5 to be exact, from the victim, who refused.

Murphy then told the victim he had a gun and again demanded he give him $5. The victim gave Murphy $2, which was all he had.

After spotting police officers at the Shell station he pulled in and told them what happened.

As officers approached Murphy he ran. They chased him about two blocks before apprehending him.

Murphy was arrested by Thomasville Police Department Investigator Shane Lindsey and charged with attempted robbery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $8,500.

Marion Wilbert Owes, domestic violence, third degree/assault, warrant, arrested Oct. 10;

Demetrice Larose Griffin, child restraint violation, warrant, arrested Oct. 10;

Valerie Letrease Southall, reckless endangerment, arrested Oct. 11;

Jermaine Holt, failure to appear on operating a vehicle without insurance, arrested Oct. 12;

Latoya Monique Presnall, failure to appear on speeding, arrested Oct. 13;

Eric Presnall, failure to appear on no drivers license, arrested Oct. 13;

Katherine Jo Parris Parnell, violation of prohibition law, arrested Oct. 13;

Laquisha Dale, harassment, arrested Oct. 15;

Katrina Butler Graham, false reporting an incident, arrested Oct. 15.

Thomasville police officers investigated five accidents, responded to 38 complaints, issued 34 traffic tickets and five warning tickets and performed 183 special details during the week of Oct. 9-15.
