Busy month for students
The month of October has been very busy as both our faculty and students have been involved in many activities. On Tuesday, Oct. 10th, Parenting Day was held within our school system. Over 100 parent-teacher conferences were held. This can only result in better student achievement and success in school. One of the great things about the total school experience is that it allows students to be involved in many activities. For example, we have many students campaigning for office in a school-wide Student Government election. The students always enjoy displaying their signs and slogans as they run for different school offices. The Wilson Hall Middle School PTA committee is working hard preparing our Fall Fun Day fundraising event for this school year. We have set the date for Friday, Nov. 17th. The outside activities will be held that morning for the fifth and sixth grade students and in the afternoon for the seventh and eighth grade students. As the day approaches more information will be sent home by the committee describing all events and the cost to attend. As I walk through each classroom today, I am again excited by the number of students who are participating and working hard in their classrooms. On this particular morning in one of our fifth grade classes, Mrs. Kathy Powell was working with a class in a group guidance activity. Mrs. Powell did a great job explaining to the children why good character is important. She spends a lot of time talking about positive values such as respect, responsibility, fairness, and citizenship. We will continue to educate all our students not only in the required academic subjects, but also try to teach the moral responsibilities of being a good person.
