$250,000 grant will construct Grove Hill senior ctr.

Local senior citizens applauded the news last week that the Town of Grove Hill has been approved to receive a Community Development Block Grant for $250,000.

The town has been pursuing a senior center for some time and even purchased the old Pruitt's Restaurant building for a center at one time but later sold it when it wasn't deemed usable.

The vacant corner lot at the intersection of Clarke and Jackson Streets will be purchased for the center.

Architectural plans and other details remain to be worked out.

The grant funds will be issued through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
