Grove Hill Citizen of the Year

Mary Wilson English, center, was honored as Grove Hill's Citizen of the Year last Thursday night at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church. Shown with her are Amy Clarke Davis of the Grove Hill Arts Council, the group that nominated her, and Cheryl Horton of the Grove Hill Civitan Club, sponsors of the event. English was recognized for a variety of community work but her work as the director of the Child Advocacy Center was singled out for special recognition. Speakers for the program included close friend and fellow church member Susan Jones; English's niece, Ellie Wilson; and Eddie Slayton, who talked about her work with the Child Advocacy Center.
