'Bigbee erosion hearing in Livingston The sixth meeting in a series of 10 to allow property owners and others to learn about issues that impact stream bank erosion along the Tombigbee River will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the University of West Alabama Environmental Training Center in Livingston. The meeting will address various practices to retard erosion and ways of reclaiming areas lost by stream bank erosion. Anyone wishing to speak on the subject will be given five minutes for their presentation. Those wishing to speak should have a written statement to give to the meeting facilitator. Anyone not wishing to speak but who would like to submit a statement may do so. A seventh meeting is scheduled for Dec. 7, also in Livingston.
All of the meetings so far have been held in Livingston except one that was not publicized and therefore not well attended in Grove Hill.
'All I want for Christmas is...' Grove Hill Chamber plans annual Christmas parade
The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce has selected Thursday, Dec. 7 as the date for its annual Christmas Parade. The parade will start at 4 p.m. at Jackson Street and Cobb Street by the Clarke County Historical Museum. It will travel south on Jackson Street and end at The Medicine Chest and Fourth Street. Line-up for the parade will begin at 3:15 p.m. in front of Clarke County High School. This year's theme for the parade is, "All I want for Christmas is..." Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in the float competition. Please call the chamber at 251-275-4188 if you would like to participate or if you have any questions. There is no fee to enter the parade. Immediately following the parade Santa will meet with kids of all ages to hear their Christmas wishes and pass out candy and coloring books. He will be on the porch of the Clarke County Historical Museum.
