Autumn beauty
So many people are in such a hurry to get to the mountains to see the fall colors that they overlook the beauty right here at home. South Alabama's fall colors are more muted and subtle but are there nevertheless if we take the time to look. This photograph was made from the Taylor Mill Bridge looking along Souwilpa Creek north of Silas in neighboring Choctaw County. A small waterfall there is near the site where Samuel Taylor had a grist mill in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Here in Clarke County, there are pretty scenes throughout the county. Especially scenic are views along Old Highway 5 north of Grove Hill, in the Chance and Scyrene areas and in the northwest corner of the county.
