      For the third straight year and fourth time in six years the Leroy Bears will be advancing to the semi-finals in Class 2A as they beat the Panthers of Lanett 36-16 last Friday night in Lanett. Over the last three years the Bears are 11-1 in post-season play, winning it all in 2004.

      Logan Gardner, 8-years-old of Jackson, killed this 4-pointer while hunting with his grandfather Mickel Shepherd near Coffeeville last Monday. It was his first deer. He is the son of Shannon and Shonda Gardner.

      Deloise Johnson, of Grove Hill, killed this 8-point buck, weighing 163 pounds, on Sat., Nov. 18. At right, Amos Johnson, of Grove Hill killed this gobbler on Mon., Nov. 27. It had one and threeeighths inch spurs, a 10 inch beard and weighed 17 pounds.

Nice Buck
      Vaughn Howell, of Leroy, killed this nice 8-point buck on Nov. 25 while hunting near Helwestern. The deer weighed 171 pounds and it had a 19 inch spread.

Father and son drop deer
      Justin Phillips, 12-years-old, killed this 8-pointer while hunting with his father, Tommy Phillips. The elder Phillips also killed an 8-pointer. Both deer were killed on Nov. 21 in the Bassett Creek area.
