TDS should accomodate citizens’ needs

It is regrettable that TDS Telecom has chosen to close its office in Grove Hill—as well as the three other Alabama communities where they operate phone systems and in other communities across the nation too.

We trust that service won’t go lacking because there are no local offices.

TDS wants customers to pay by mail, an Internet site or other high tech ways. They do not understand that in a rural market like ours a lot of senior citizens and lower income customers want to deal with a human being and many want to pay cash for the services.

TDS is probably not going to reconsider keeping their offices open. We hope they will consider contracting with a local business to accept phone payments much the way some businesses take payments for rural water systems now.

Too often, businesses forget who they are working for—their customers.
