Packer’s Bend

Christmas parade

Monroe Intermediate School and the Packer’s Bend annual Christmas parade welcomes world championship boxer, Roy Jones Jr., Grand Marshall, featuring 3D Christmas songs, Jingaling and Christmas gift,

Saturday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. Lineup begins at 9 a.m. at the A.O.H. Church. Businesses, organizations, bands, drill teams, 4-wheeler clubs, churches, horse riders club, etc., are encouraged to participate. Candy can be thrown. No fee required to participate in the parade. Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church of Coffeeville will have its annual Christmas play, “The Biggest Christmas Present Ever,” Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. Deacon Eugene Coats is the church clerk. Rev. Albert Ridgeway is the pastor.

VFW 5106 Post

Christmas party/meeting

VFW Post 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.

SWAIA Forum

Southwest Alabama Improvement Association, known as SWAIA, will a public meeting be Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Steak House. The speakers will be W. Frank Porter, license insurance broker AFLAC, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana Health Plan and Dr. O.L. Hubert, P.D., MHS, FACA, DE Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Care Provider will also be on hand to provide important information regarding 2007 Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit and Medication Therapy Management Services (MTMS) will be discussed. Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals 65 years of age, under age 65 with certain disabilities and any age with end-stage renal (kidney) disease (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia). Tour of Homes set

Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church of Millry will have its second annual Touring of Decorative Homes for Christmas Thursday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $25. There will be first, second and third place prizes awarded. The deadline to enter will be Sunday, Dec. 17. The tour of homes is sponsored by the Greater New Hope A.M.E. MHS Christmas Gala

Marengo High School of Dixons Mills will have its Christmas Gala 2006 Friday, Dec. 22 from 7 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Admission will be $5 for grades K-1. Dress will be semi-formal attire, no jeans or tennis shoes. Free food. The gala is sponsored by Marengo High School Panther Pride Organization.
