Bulldogs’ hoops on a tear

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs avenged their only loss this season and improved their record to 7-1 as they beat Sumter County 64-57 in Grove Hill on Dec. 2.

Ben Burroughs had the hot hand as he paced CCHS with 18 points, four rebounds and two assists. Deforest Taite had 14 points, three rebounds, three steals and five assists. Kenneth Kimbrough had 11 points and eight rebounds. Duane Owens added 10 points, two rebounds, a steal and five assists.

The previous night the Bulldogs beat Livingston 58-54 on the road in Sumter County.

Taite had 22 points, five rebounds, seven steals and three assists to lead the way. B. Burroughs added 10 points, three rebounds, four steals and five assists. Kimbrough had nine points, seven rebounds, two steals and two assists. Justin Burroughs had eight

points, 13 rebounds, two steals and an assist. Owens had seven points and seven rebounds.

Clarke County beat Demopolis 59-41 on Nov. 28 in Grove Hill.

B. Burroughs had 16 points, nine rebounds, two steals and three assists. Kimbrough added 13 points and eight rebounds.

They returned to action Tuesday night when they traveled to Demopolis. Those results will be in next week’s Democrat.
