Miracles can be duplicated, but character cannot
By Rev. Billy Cardwell

Miracles can be duplicated. I always r e a d M a t t h ew 7 : 2 2 - 2 3 with fear and trembling. It s a y s , “Many will

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” We can do “mighty works” for God and yet not have the “character” it takes to get into heaven.

In Exodus 7:8-12, Moses’ rod became a snake but the “sorcerers ... magicians of Egypt” did the same. In II Thess. 2:9, “Even him (anti-christ) whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.” Miracles were duplicated in the Old Testament, they can be duplicated today, and will be duplicated by the antichrist in the future.

Miracles can be duplicated, but character cannot be duplicated, because it is produced by the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22- 23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith (faithfulness), meekness, temperance (selfcontrol): against such there is no law.” I believe that this is the basic character of Christ and this is the character that the Holy Spirit is trying to produce in us. This character cannot be duplicated-it is only produced by the Spirit of God.

Character, not miracles, is going to get you into the kingdom of God. What counts with God is not what you do but what you are. You can counterfeit the things that you do-but you cannot counterfeit what you are.
