Hospital Auxiliary hears from OB director

The Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (GHMHA) met in November at the hospital in the conference room. Mrs. Jena’ Parden, president, called the meeting to order and introduced Mrs. Mary McKinley, the OB care coordinator.

Mrs. McKinley discussed the OB services her office provides. Prenatal classes are conducted in the hospital. Mothers-to-be who attend all six classes receive vouchers for car seats.

Members of the North Allen Homemakers Club make stockings in which Christmas babies are placed when they are leaving the hospital. The ladies also supply books for mothers who bring the babies back for first check-ups.

Caring things are done for mothers who lose their babies before birth, during birth or immediately after birth. Precious Angels provide materials. Mrs. Jean Skipper makes beautiful little gowns for Mrs. McKinley and the nurses to use.

Mrs. McKinley thanked the GHMHA for funds provided for certificates, pamphlets and books. The group voted to continue giving the financial aid.

Mrs. Kate Jordan, chairman of the A.L. Payne Jr. Scholarship Fund, reported that a graduate nurse who would not return to work in the GHMH had returned the full amount of her loan plus interest.

Doug Sewell, hospital administrator, announced that Dr. Charles Buckmaster will move to Grove Hill soon. Mr. Sewell asked members to urge their friends to use the hospital facilities for needed tests.

Mrs. Parden reminded the group that the GHMHA does not meet in December. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 24 at 9 a.m.
