Where’s Duck Pond?

Dear Editor,

I noted with interest the Boise ad in the November 30, 2006 Democrat, telling of the dedication of the "Duck Pond," in honor of Mr. Merson.

When the railroad was being constructed through Clarke County in the 1880s, the June 23, 1887 Democrat carried a little note as follows: "The Duck Pond, east of this place, on the line of the railroad, was drained, last week, and a great many fish caught. The work of trestling the pond will now be resumed."

I've always assumed that this pond was just south of the Whatley railroad station. I am wondering if any of your readers know where the 1880s Duck Pond was located.
