GHES students still believe in spirit of Christmas
By Kathy Spidle

The season each child awaits each year is finally here. If you don't believe the spirit of Christmas still exists, you need to visit the 480 or more excited boys and girls at Grove Hill Elementary. There are stories being read, decorations being made, and songs being sung all around our campus, and believe it or not, a lot of instruction and learning is also taking place. Our teachers continue to focus on the importance of your child's education while incorporating a little holiday spirit along the way.

As with everyone, we have been extremely busy. We've had several fundraisers that benefit our students and school in some important way. We continue to appreciate the support of the parents and community when our students enlist in your help with these events. Recently, PTA sponsored and participated in a cookie dough fundraiser that helped our school get approximately $7,000. We have also had our December Scholastic Book Fair in the library. Profits from the book fair help purchase various supplies for our library and school. Again, many thanks to all those who support the efforts of our boys and girls, they take a great deal of pride in knowing they have helped make a difference in their school.

We are very proud of Mrs. Rush and the Grove Hill Elementary Singers for their recent performance during our Holiday Concert. If you've never heard them sing, you've missed a great treat. It is always amazing to hear the beautiful songs that children sing, but it is especially sweet to hear children sing our old time favorite Christmas songs.

As the holidays fast approach us, it is nice to walk through the halls of our school and see the magic of Christmas through the eyes of children. It is my Christmas wish to each and every student, family and staff member that you have a Happy Holiday Season and A Prosperous New Year.
