Beware bogus Medicare reps’ calls

The Clarke County Sheriff’s Department warns area residents to beware of individuals posing as Medicare representatives calling to set up appointments or showing up at residences.

Deputy Maurice Dyess said the department has had some complaints. Medicare does not send out representatives to call on people, he said.

The bogus representatives seem to favor the elderly. Although no crimes have been reported, the actions seem highly suspicious and Dyess said anyone who gets calls or visits should contact the sheriff’s department or their local police department.
