Etheredge

Rufus Julian Etheredge, 75, of Sweet Water died Dec. 17, 2006 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 26, 1930 in Aimwell. He was a member of Aimwell Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and a retired mail carrier.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Alice Etheredge, Sweet Water; one son, Andy Wayne (Mary Newton) Etheredge, Sweet Water; one grandson, Orlando Wayne Etheredge, Sweet Water; a devoted friend, Sidney Rodgers Jr., Sweet Water.

The service was Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. with Revs. Lon Baxter, Fred Wiley and Morgan Flowers officiating. Burial was in the Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Stanley Etheridge, Milton Etheridge, Danny Flowers, Sim Lewis, James Tensley and Peter Frank McGilberry.

Honorary pallbearers were Dixie Mayton, Haywood Maton Jr., Jeffrey Mayton, Regan Daniels, Jerry Harrington, Clarence Washington, Herman Tensley, Henri Etheridge, J.D. Flowers, Willie Cabanis, Grady Martin, Ken Williamson and staff of Sweet Water Post Office.
