Smith

Grover Smith, 87, of St. Stephens died Dec. 14, 2006 at an area hospital.

He was born

He was born March 2, 1919. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant. He had worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include four sons, Wayne (Pearl) Smith, Meridian, Miss., Jimmy (Nell) Smith, St. Stephens, Ron (Donna Sue) Smith, David (Julie) Smith, all of Leroy; two daughters, Miriam Pes, St. Stephens, Dorothy Smith, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Walton Smith, Montgomery; one sister, Louise Boykin, Jackson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The service was Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church St. Stephens with Rev. Gary Patrick officiating. Burial was with an honor guard at the First Baptist Church St. Stephens Cemetery. St. Stephens Funeral Home directed.

Active pallbearers were Jason Moseley, Patrick Roberts, Jamey Sullivan, Steve Goldman, Craig Blosser, Bobby Bounds and Buddy Boykin.

Honorary pallbearers were Henry Ford Goldman, Sam Johnson, Dr. Norman Stevens, Fred Smith and Roy Mitchum.
