Champion

Minister Frankie Leggett Champion, 63, of Jackson died Dec. 16, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile.

She was born June 19, 1943. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church of Carlton where she was a licensed minister.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Champion, Toddtown; two daughters, Evangela Nicholson (Harold) Cowan, Nashville, Tenn., Trista Nicholson (Johnny Jr.) Ezell, Toddtown; two brothers, Jimmie Leggett, Grove Hill, Chester Leggett, Mobile; 10 sisters, Daisy Perine, Bernice Perine, Marie Leggett, Milwaukee, Wis., Mamie Edmond, Mobile, Linda Burroughs, Whatley, Florence Leggett, Walker Springs, Janice Leggett, Felica Leggett, both of Jackson, Diane Edmond Gayle Leggett, Birmingham; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The service was Friday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial was in the Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
