Dr. Jack Anderson Miller, 78, a resident of Millbrook, died June 8, 2007, after an extended illness.
He served his country as a member of the United States Marines
followed by a long career in secondary education. He was
the first headmaster
of Grove Hill Academy when the school was founded in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Miller, Millbrook; one daughter, Jan Kelley, Grove Hill; three grandchildren, Peyton Powell, Lindsay Luker, and Carmen Davis; five great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherrill and Lucille Miller and one sister, Joyce Cochran.
The funeral was held Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Prattville Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. A committal service followed in the Ocmulgee Baptist Church Cemetery, north of Selma, with Reverend Donald Harris officiating.
Pallbearers were Layne Mims, Wayne Mims, Bob Vaughn, Joe Nettles, Bob Camel, and Jack Joseph. Honorary pallbearers were Members of the Bruce Ward Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church and Fellow Gideons of Prattville.
