Jan. 22, 1923 in Ramer. He was a native of Wagarville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leroy. He was a member of the VFW. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He had worked as a chemical production supervisor with Olin Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise R. Smith, Mobile; three daughters, Pamela Etheredge, Leroy, Linda Kay Loper, Daphne, Janet Barrios, Chatom; two brothers, R.G. "Gib" Smith, Pensacola, Fla., Gerald Smith, Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Brenda Bentley, Montgomery; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The service was June 27 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in the Wagarville Baptist Cemetery.
