He was born April 1, 1931. He
was a member of the Jackson Church of
Christ. He served
with the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Jackson VFW. He was a retired millwright with Boise Cascade, LLC.
Survivors include his wife, Fanny Johnson Mitchem, Jackson; one daughter, Yolande Flo Heison, Jackson; two sons, Roy Chalmers Mitchem Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Danny Neil Mitchem, Bay Minette; one brother, Max Presnall Mitchem, Cedar Bluff; three sisters, Meloise Blount, Hot Springs, Ark., Ellen Rivers, Grove Hill, Ethel Baggette, Mobile; five grandchildren.
The service was Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson.
