She was born July 19, 1921 in Fulton. She was a member of Spencer Chapel African Methodist
Church of Fulton. Since moving to Akron, Ohio in the 1940s, she had been a member of Wesley Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Ohio and Alabama. Her interests included gardening, natural remedies and following news and sporting events on television and radio. She was employed by the Akron Public Schools and the M. O'Neil Company.
Survivors include a son, Donald Peoples; two sisters, Cecelia (J.D.) Mickles, Prichard, Alberta Lucas, Akron, Ohio; two grandsons, Kevin Lockett and Scott Lockett, and many other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Nellie Jackson; her husband of 41 years, Emerson Peoples; one son, James (Cleo) Peoples and a daughter, Addie (Charles) Lockett.
The service was Oct. 4 at 12 p.m. at Wesley Temple A.M.E. Church in Akron with Rev. Dr. Curtis Walker Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Glendale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 1091 Packard Drive, Akron, Ohio 44320.
