Lula D. Pope Ola, 53, of Jamaica, N.Y. died Oct. 10, 2007 at a hospital in New York.
She received her education in the New York City Public School System. Her undergraduate degree was from City University New York College, masters of art degree in education was from Long Island University C.W. Post Campus. She was employed as a teacher in the New York Public School System. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Jamaica.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Olayiwola Ola, Jamaica, N.Y.; her mother, Desma Mitchell Pope, Whatley; her grandmother, Ruby Mitchell, Whatley; one son, Jason Ola, Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Galemarie Ola, Dallas, Texas; one brother, Anthony Lloyd Pope, Whatley; six sisters, Patricia Pope, Inwood, Calif., Carol (Greg) Cody, Dallas, Texas, Lois (Horace) Fuller, Northbaltimore, N.Y., Elaine Pope, Jamaica, N.Y., Joan Hundon, Sacramento, Calif., Tillie (Will) Pope, Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Lee Pope Sr., a brother, John Lee Pope Jr. and a sister, Gail Marie.
The service was Oct. 15 at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church of Whatley with Rev. Johnnie Lynum officiating. Burial was in the Pope Family Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
Ethel Mae Dickinson, 90, of Grove Hill died Oct. 10, 2007 at her residence.
She was a member of Orange Hill Baptist Church of Grove Hill.
Survivors include four sons, John Dickinson, Percy Dickinson, Melvin Dickinson, all of Grove Hill, Clayton Dickinson, Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Lula (Lorenzo) Hayes, Detroit, Mich., Worthy Bowen, Grove Hill; one brother, Earnest Glenn, Mobile; two sisters, Murtis Barnett, Grove Hill, Dorothy Hicks, Mobile; a host of grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
The service was Oct. 16 at the Orange Hill Baptist Church of Grove Hill with Rev. James Barron officiating. Burial was in the Orange Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
