Practical purchase

Grove Hill town officials and firefighters are to be congratulated for making what appears to be a very practical purchase for the fire department.

A 3,000 gallon pumper arrived last week. The new rig can carry more water than any of the other trucks in the department's fleet. Water is crucial to fighting

fires, especially in some of our areas that do not boast adequate water supplies nearby.

It also sports three dump chutes and carries a canvas "dump tank" that can be quickly set up at a fire site. If need be, water can be ferried from distant hydrants to fight fires.

It is a practical addition.
