Our Opinions Iraq may have its problems but you can't say they don't have swift justice. Within days of rejecting a death sentence for former dictator Saddam Hussein, he was turned over to the Iraqis who promptly hanged him. We shed no tears for Saddam but we were a little annoyed that the execution seemed to have been carried out more as a revengeful lynching than a legimiate execution of the new Iraqi government. It only highlighted the inability or lack of desire of the so-called Iraqi authorities to control things in their war torn country. Saddam may be gone but the Iraqi mess isn't likely to get any better any quicker. In the meantime, a tragic milestone was reached on Dec. 31 with the 3,000th U.S. soldier being killed in Iraq. Several more have been killed so far in 2007.
How much longer will it continue?
