Three CCHS teams win tourney titles
In the championship game CCHS beat Choctaw County 50- 46 Saturday afternoon. Stephanie Robinson, who was named to the all-tournament team, had a monster game as she scored 19 points to pace the Lady Bulldogs. She also had 11 rebounds and two steals. Erica Moore, the tourney's MVP, added 11 points and five assists. Ebony Hughes, also on the alltourney squad, had eight points, six rebounds, two steals along with an assist and a blocked shot. Kiera Ezell pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists. Kiara Gildersleeve had four boards and a steal. The CCHS varsity Bulldogs had their way with the Choctaw County Tigers 75-49 in the varisty championship game. Ben Burroughs, the tourney MVP, led CCHS with 19 points. His brother Justin Burroughs, also on the all-tournament team, had 18 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists. Deforest Taite, also added 12 points, four rebounds, five steals and fours asissts. Kenneth Kimbrough had 10 points and four rebounds. Marlon McConnell had eight points.
Colton McConnell led CCHS with 23 points. Tamichael Burroughs added 12 points. Thursday, Dec. 28 In the opening round of the tournament Clarke County ran past Coffeeville 48-18. The Lady Bulldogs had 11 different players score in the lopsided win, led by NaKeshia Coats' 10 points. Moore added seven points, five rebounds, four steals and five assists. Hughes and Robinson each had six points. Minetre Martin and Erica McCaskey each had five points. Ciara Pendleton had seven rebounds and two steals. Gildersleeve had four rebounds and three points. Sherita Williams, and Jamie Stabler each had two points. The varsity Bulldogs ran past the Coffeeville Panthers 76-52 in their opening round game on Thursday. B. Burroughs led the way with 20 points. Taite and Kimbrough each had 10 points. McConnell added eight points. Michael Thomas led Coffeeville with 16 points. Franklin Grayson added 11 points. M. Watkins had 10 points. Jeremy Pugh had eight points. Friday, Dec. 29 Clarke County ran out to a 30- 1 first quarter lead and never looked back as they beat Leroy 69-16 in the second round game Friday. B. Burroughs again led CCHS with 15 points. J. Burroughs had 12 points. Duane Owens added 10 points. Kimbrough had nine points. The Lady Bulldogs had no problem in the second round as they beat Leroy 75-51 on Friday. Moore led the attack with 18 points, eight rebounds, four steals and five assists. Coates had 16 points and four boards. Robinson had 12 points and six rebounds. Gildersleeve added eight points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Hughes had six points, six rebounds, a steal and two assists. Martin added five points. C. Pendleton had four points. Staber and Sherita Williams each had three points.
Clarke County's season series with Choctaw County has been cancelled but they return to the court Friday when they travel to Chatom to take on Washington County in their first area game of the season.
