Arnold takes job in Wilcox County
Arnold served as chief deputy for the Clarke County Sheriff's Department for 10 years before accepting the new position in Wilcox County. His last day with the sheriff's department was Friday, Jan. 5. "God opened the door for me. We will still live in Thomasville, I'll still be working in law enforcement. It's a change, but it's a change I needed," Arnold said. He was sworn in on Monday and began his duties of overseeing parolees and those on probation Tuesday. "The best part of my job as a deputy was serving the people. I still get to serve people, just in a different way," he said. Arnold ran against Bobby Moore, a lieutenant with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department, for Clarke County sheriff in the Democratic primary and lost. Moore was later elected sheriff in the general election. "It was a wonderful experience and I am glad I ran," he said. When asked if he planned to run again he replied, "Whatever God lays on my heart to do in four years." Arnold said he had seen a lot of positive changes since going to work at the sheriff's department in 1989 and he hopes the department will continue to improve.
"I want to thank the people of Clarke County for allowing me to serve them. And I want to thank the staff at the sheriff's department for the job they do. I've gotten to meet and work with some wonderful people and I am going to miss that."
