Heating bills help available for low income families The Community Action Agency of Baldwin, Escambia, Clarke, Monroe and Conecuh Counties is accepting applications to assist lowincome families with their heating bill. The program extends through the winter months assisting households with an allotment established by the Federal Government. To be eligible, a household must furnish proof of combined income, before deductions, of all household members for the entire month, prior to the month they apply for assistance. Social Security cards, date of birth and age of household member should be provided to the agency. The head of household should make the application. Monthly income cannot be in excess of the following: one person, $1,225; two people, $1,650; three people - $2,075; four people - $2,500. Add $425 per month for each additional household member thereafter to determine eligibility. Payment will be made directly to the utility company that supplies the heat and no payments will be made to the household. Funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The number of applications taken daily is also limited due to the application process and the availability of funds. Special arrangements may be made for the elderly and physically challenged. Deposits and reconnect fees may be limited.
