New health office slated

The Clarke County Health Department will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility in Grove Hill on Friday, Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the site of the new facility on Highway 84 East.

The building will replace the health department facility built in 1967 which now houses clinical services. The new building will also accommodate the environmental health, SOBRA Medicaid and social work case management services in one building. The building will also include a community room.

State Health Officer Dr. Donald Williamson said, "I am happy to see the dream of improved public health facilities becoming a reality in Clarke County as it has in many other counties in the state. This facility should serve the public well for years to come."

Funding is through the Alabama Public Health Care Authority. The Town of Grove Hill and the Clarke County Commission provided property.
