Chris Beverly also seeking revenue commissioner's job

Another name has been added to the short list of people seeking the Clarke County Revenue Commissioner's appointment.

Chris Beverly of Thomasville, longtime appraiser in the office, is seeking the gubernatorial appointment. He has worked in the appraisal department for 25 years.

Others who were previously reported to be seeking the appointment from Gov. Riley are Sharon Buford, chief clerk in the office, Fred Dunagan of the Greenwood community, and Jamie Wilkins of Jackson.

With incumbent Jay Duke moving to the circuit clerk's office, a gubernatorial appointment will be needed to fill the vacancy. The appointee will serve the two years left in the term.
