CPS beats Escambia, falls to Colts

The Clarke Prep School Gators ran into a buzzsaw this past Saturday as they lost 67-36 to the Colts of Hooper Academy in Grove Hill.

The Gators fell behind 24-2 in the first quarter and never recovered. Taylor Becton led CPS with 12 points. Chad Dickinson added nine points.

The Gators had no trouble with the Cougars of Escambia Academy as they won 64-36 in Canoe.

Dickinson's 30 points led all scorers. Becton had 13 points, while Marcus Etheridge and Tanner Tucker each had six points.

In mid-December the Gators lost 69-50 to Taylor Road Academy.

Dickinson led the Gators with 21 points. Etheridge added 11 points. Tucker had nine points. Becton added six points.

Clarke Prep also beat in-county rival Jackson 43-31.

Tucker paced CPS with 15 points. Etheridge added 12 points. Dickinson had eight points. Becton scored seven points.

The Gators traveled to Mobile Tuesday to play Faith Academy in a big area contest. Friday they host Cottage Hill in another key area game.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
