Free tax workshop for businesses scheduled in Jackson Feb. 13

Beginning next month, the Alabama Department of Revenue and the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce will team up to offer free tax workshops to area business owners, announced State Revenue Commissioner Tom Surtees.

The first workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. at the Kimbell House, located at 136 Mayton Drive in Jackson.

The free workshop will cover a variety of business tax information topics, including employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes and business licensing requirements. An overview of Alabama's business tax electronic filing programs will also be presented, as well as an update of any state tax law changes affecting business taxpayers.

New and existing business owners are encouraged to mark their calendars and attend the free Feb. 13 New Business Workshop.
