Dragging out wet-dry

The wet-dry debate is being dragged out in Thomasville to no good conclusion for either the wet or dry sides and certainly not for the overall community's well-being.

Thomasville city leaders have been correct to want to make sure zoning was enacted and an alcohol control ordinance is in place before a referendum on whether or not to legalized sales in the city limits is permitted.

But an effort to be overly fair to those opposing alcohol sales is only dragging out the inevitable vote.

Whenever an election date is set, there still must be about a 90-day period before the actual vote. That is more than enough time for a serious debate on the question.

Dragging out the controversy isn't good for the community.

Set a date, vote alcohol in or keep it out but let's get it over with!
