COMMUNITY CALENDAR Sen. Shelby to visit U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (RAla.) will join the residents of Clarke County for a county visit on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 12 noon (note the time has been changed from 10 am.) at Gloria's Cafe in Grove Hill. Sen. Shelby will discuss his legislative agenda for the 110th Congress as well as important issues facing the nation and the state of Alabama. Following his remarks, Sen. Shelby will open the floor to questions and comments from those in attendance. Fellowship Choir meets The Clarke and Monroe County Fellowship Choir will hold a business meeting Saturday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. at Ward's Restaurant. Business of importance. CAC Singing Valentines The Regional Child Advocacy Center's annual Singing Valentine fundraiser will beWednesday, Feb. 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be singers in Thomasville, Grove Hill and Jackson who will deliver a valentine in song to a loved one for a tax deductible donation of $20 for an individual or $50 for a group. Black History Program Sunflower AOH Church located on McFadden Street in Thomasville will have a Black History Program Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. The theme will be "...they made me the keeper of the vineyards..." Song of Solomon 1:6. The guest speaker will be Bishop Herbert Nobles of the House of Prayer of Gosport. Elder S.L. Calhoun is the pastor. Black History Tea The Clarke County Voters League's annual Black History Tea will be Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Intermediate School's Cafeteria located at 2950 Highway 43 in Jackson. The speaker will be B.J. McCullough of Montgomery. J.W. Andrews is the president and Janet James is the program chairperson. JHS Class of 1987 meets Jackson High School Class of 1987 is in the process of planning a 20th year class reunion. A meeting will be Sunday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church in Jackson. CAC dinner and auction The Regional Child Advocacy Center, Inc. will be holding a dinner and auction on Tuesday, March 6 at The Fish House in Jackson. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be items for a silent auction, a live auction and door prizes, and the admission price of $25 includes both auctions and a shrimp and steak dinner. All proceeds will benefit the two programs under this non-profit agency, the Child Advocacy Center and Almost Home.
