Poor Florida

Floridians have to think some higher force is out to get them.

Hurricanes have pounded the Sunshine State repeatedly in recent years, causing death and destruction. But with the hurricane season still months away, citizens thought they could sleep soundly this time of the year.

Not so. Monster torandoes roared through central Florida last Friday, killing 20 people and destroying or damaging an estimated 1,300 homes and other buildings, as well as a local church.

One of the victims, a 17-yearold girl, died when a falling tree crushed her bedroom in the predawn hours.

President Bush declared four counties disaster areas, enabling special loans and oher assistance.

We pray that finacial help will be swift and we also pray for the mental and spiritual health for those who have suffered more than their share of natural disasters in recent years.
