Coleman

Marie DeWitt Coleman, 83, a native of Clarke County and a longtime resident of Jackson, died at the Jackson Health Care Facility on Feb. 1, 2007. She was born March 7, 1923.

Ree, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson, an avid walker, Auburn University and Atlanta Braves fan.

She is survived by her two sons, Bob Coleman III of Fairhope and Danny Coleman of Leroy; five grandchildren, Dr. Scott (Robin) Coleman of Fairhope, Ashley (Michelle) Coleman of Tuscaloosa, Mary Kate Coleman of Mobile, and Ginny and Golden Coleman of Jackson; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Jean Butts of Grove Hill.

A funeral service followed by visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Jackson. A private family graveside ceremony in Thomasville followed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jackson. Arrangements were by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, Alabama.
