Proposed cell phone tax would benefit 911 Clarke County E-911 director Becky Neugent told board members that House Bill 590 would be going to the Alabama Legislature's regular session that starts in March. The bill, if passed, would add a 911 rate of 70 cents per month to prepaid cellular phones and also add the rate to phones that are activated out of state, but the bill is paid within the state. Other business Repairs made to Jackson's 911 computer cost the 911 office $1,843. The advisory board met last week and went over standard operating procedures for fire departments responding to wrecks. Clarke County answered 603 911 calls, responded to 412 calls for service, ran 602 drivers license numbers and 413 tag numbers. Jackson Police Department answered 22 911 calls.
Thomasville Police Department answered 175 911 calls.
