Church Announcements New Home supper/singing New Home Church near Monroeville will have a special fundraising supper and singing Friday, Feb. 23. A chicken and pork supper will begin at 5 p.m. and the singing will begin at 7 p.m. Plates are $6 and carry-outs will be available. Featured singers will be "4-Given" and "Grateful Heart." This event is being sponsored by the Woodlawn Methodist Church. Revs. Thomas Smith and Kenneth Johnson invites everyone to attend. New Home is located between Repton and Monroeville North of Highway 84 East, one mile East of the skating rink. Spring Renewal Time at GH United Methodist Grove Hill United Methodist will host a Spring Renewal Time revival Sunday, Feb. 25 through Wednesday, Feb. 28. Dr. Douglas C. Newton of Choctaw Beach, Fla. will be delivering the messages. Now retired, he continues to serve and is in his 13th pastoral appointment at Choctaw Beach since starting out with a student appointment in the 1950s. He has also served one appointment as a district superintendent. Dr. Newton will be preaching at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. He will be preaching at 7 p.m. each night, Monday through Wednesday. In addition, he will be teaching short lessons during morning breakfast programs, 7-7:30 a.m. Monday- Wednesday. The guest minister of music for the special services will be Lauren Blair Kerchner, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Philip Craddock of Thomasville where the Rev. Craddock is pastor of the Thomasville United Methodist Church. Spencer's Founder's Day Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton will have its Founder's Day celebration Sunday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. Wear African attire if you like. Old fashioned food will be served after the service. Rev. W.T. Lesueur is the pastor/presiding elder. Williams Temple special Williams Temple C.M.E. Church of Thomasville will have a celebration of the Annual Steward, Stewardess and Trustee Day program Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Clausell Boykin and St. James A.M.E. Church of Jackson will be the special guests. Sis. Lillie Arnold, Sis. Judy Carlton, Bro. Archir Pruitt are chairpersons. Rev. Hazel Kirksey is the pastor. Founder's Day service set Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church will observe Founder's Day Sunday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. This year's theme is: "Africa Remembered." Pineview plans lay renewal weekend March 2-4 A team of Christians from other churches will be visiting Pineview Baptist Church Friday, March 2 through Sunday, March 4. These small group leaders will be leading the church in praise songs and testimonies about where they are on their spiritual journey. The main purpose of the weekend is to renew the relationship with the Lord, remembering who we are. Renewal involves discipline in prayer and Bible study, reading renewal-oriented books, learning to understand and to love others, discovering the fellowship of church life, understanding your personal mission and ministry, learning to share faith with unbelievers and learning the discipline of prayer. If you're ready for a deeper relationship with God and a closer unity with other believers, plan to attend the Lay Revival Weekend March 2-4 at Pineview Baptist Church. Saint Peter celebrates pastor's 14th anniversary Saint Peter Baptist Church will celebrate the 14th anniversary of its pastor, Rev. Matthew Davis and wife, Sis.
