Rising to 'Scale Back' challenge

Alabama will not be the fattest state in the nation in March if the Clarke County citizens have anything to say about it.

With half of the eight week "Scale Back Alabama" program under the rapidly shrinking belt, participants are starting to see the results of a healthier lifestyle.

The concentration is not only on cutting calories, but also on increasing physical activity and becoming role models for the children.

Employees of Grove Hill Memorial Hospital are encouraging everyone to log "Scale Back miles" to begin a lifestyle habit that will persist long after the Scale Back challenge is over.

As of Feb. 20 almost 500 miles have been logged on the "Scale Back Alabama Trail" behind Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Community meetings are continuing each Thursday at 12 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Grove Hill.
