Bulldogs headed to Troy Regional tourney
The two teams battled to a 29-29 tie at the half but in the start of the second half Clarke County scored 11 straight points while the defense limited Pike to just one field goal, coming with just a minute left in the period. Ben Burroughs led the Bulldogs as he scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers. He also had six rebounds and four assists. Deforest Taite added 13 points, five assists and four steals. Ken Kimbrough had 11 points. Justin Burroughs had seven points and four rebounds. Pike County was led by George Wilson's 13 points and Quay Bailey's 11 points. With the win CCHS now gets to travel to Troy to play in the South Regional where they will face Abbeville at 9:30 Thursday (today) morning. The last time CCHS took on Abbeville the Class 4A title hung in the balance with the Bulldogs winning 75-59 in 1989.
The Bulldogs (23-4), if they beat Abbeville will play the winner of Calhoun-Geneva game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Troy University in Troy.
