The Clarke County High School Bulldogs lost 5-2 to the Millry Wildcats in the baseball season opener Monday afternoon in Millry.

"We made too many mental errors in the field and on the bases to win a tight ball game," Coach Chris Young said. "You can not do those types of things and hope to win."

Robert Malone went 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Tyler Walker had a hit and an RBI. Chris Andrews had a double. Hunter Cross, Josh Watford, Danny Norris and Adrian Snell each had a hit as well.

Malone (0-1) took the loss as he worked four innings. He gave up four runs, one earned, three hits while walking two and fanning seven. Norris pitched the final two frames, allowing a run, yeilding two hits and walking one.

The Bulldogs have their home opener Saturday when they take on Citronelle at 11 a.m.

Next week they will be in the Tombigbee Classic hosted in Jackson and Leroy. On Tuesday they play Leroy at 6 p.m.. On Friday they play Demoplis in Jackson at 4 p.m. They have a double-dipper slated for Saturday in Jackson as they face Sweet Water at 2:30 and Jackson at 5 p.m.
