Gators host baseball, softball tourneys
      The Clarke Prep School Gators baseball team opened the 2007 baseball season with a pair of wins in the Gator Classic this past weekend in Grove Hill. On Saturday the Gators beat the Marengo Longhorns 7-5, coming back after being down four runs early.

Gator baseball field to get new name
      The new baseball field at Calrke Prep School will be officially named in honor of longtime supporter John Becton in a ceremony on Tuesday, March 6 when the Gators play Wilcox Academy at 4 p.m. and the naming ceremony will be held at 3:45 prior to that game.

      The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators beat rival Patrician 6-3 to close out play in the Gator Classic softball tournament Saturday night in Grove Hill. CCHS Bulldogs drop pair to Citronelle
      The Clarke County High School Bulldogs baseball team dropped both ends of a doubledipper this past Saturday to Citronelle in Grove Hill. In the second game the Bulldogs fought back but were edged 12-11. Robert Malone (0-2) took the loss as he fanned seven in five innings of work.

New fields taking shape
      The new baseball and softball fields for Clarke County High School are beginning to take on the look of playing fields. The two fields are located beside Grove Hill Elementary School along with the new water tower for the town.
