Whittle Ezekiel Whittle Sr., 64, of St. Stephens died Feb. 25, 2007 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born July 9, 1942. He was born to the late Ozell Whittle and Lessie Wee McClain Whittle. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church #2 where he served as chairman of trustees. He was a former choir member. He served as Director of Church Hospitality until his health failed. He was a member of the Pine Belt Lodge #404 in Greenville. He was retired as a supervisor from Alabama Electric Co-op in Leroy. Survivors include his wife, Edna Ruth Cook Whittle, St. Stephens; two daughters, Jennifer (Milton) Whittle- Colston, Olive Branch, Miss., Denise Whittle-Smith, Montgomery; four brothers, James (Gwendolyn) Whittle, Petersburg, Va., Namiah Whittle, Allin (Betty) Whittle, all of Greenville; John Whittle, Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Annie Delois Wells, Jasper; eight grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; one grandson-inlaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ezekiel Whittle Jr.
The service was March 3 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church #2 with Rev. D.W. Moore officiating. Following the service at Mt. Olive #2, the funeral cortege traveled to Greenville for services at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial was in the Bedgood Cemetery in Greenville. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
