Flocking to Selma

The anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" was observed this past Sunday in Selma, remembering the terrible event on the Edmund Pettis Bridge that helped to spark the Civil Rights Movement and improved rights for black citizens.

But it was more like a Democratic political rally as presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, both U.S. senators, showed up to woo the black vote.

Former President Bill Clinton was there too but did his best to stay out of his wife's limelight.

Both made good speeches, referencing the struggles of the past and the continued need for improvements.

The black vote is important to the Democratic Party. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out...will black voters support Sen. Obama, whose skin color is akin to theirs or will they go with Sen. Clinton, who, along with her husband, have championed their cause for so long?
