CCHS Bulldogs split double-dipper

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs split their pair of games this past Saturday as they closed out play in the Tombigbee Classic.

In the nightcap they fell 7-2 to the host Aggies of Jackson.

Josh Watford went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs.

Robert Malone and Hunter Cross each had a hit.

Daniel Powell (0-1) took the loss in five innings of work. Justin Fendley tossed the final two frames.

Earlier in the day CCHS beat Sweet Water 7-3.

Malone (1-2) pitched all seven innings, fanning 13, in getting the win.

Cross paced the Bulldogs at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Malone went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Powell went 2-for-3. Watford was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Danny Powell went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Terrance Frazier went 1-for-4.

Friday night the Bulldogs beat Demopolis 9-6 as Watford (1-0) earned the win. He pitched four innings, walking three and striking out three.

Danny Norris got the save.

Cross went 2-for-2 with a 2-run homer and two RBI. Watford was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Malone went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI. Norris was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Frazier went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Adrian Snell was 2-for-4. Powell was 1-for-3.

Last Tuesday one big inning hurt the Bulldogs as they lost 12-10 to the host team Leroy Bears.

Malone went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI. Justin Robinson went 1-for-3 with a 2-run homer and three RBI. Terrance Frazier went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Cross, Powell and Adrian Snell each had a hit and an RBI. Justin Fendley went 2-for-3 with a double. Walker, Norris and Watford each had a hit.

Chris Andrews (0-1) took the loss.

The Bulldogs took the week off because of Graduation Exit Exams, but return to action Friday in a big way when they host the Washington County Bulldogs in their first area contest of the season. On Saturday they head to Mobile to play St. Paul's in a double-header.
