Rural planning group to meet March 20 in Grove Hill

A meeting of the Clarke county Citizens Advisory Committee of the Alabama Tombigbee Rural Planning Organization (RPO) has been scheduled for March 20, 6 p.m., in the auditorium of the Alabama Department of Transportation building in Grove Hill. The public is invited to attend.

This committee is one of three committees being utilized in the transportation planning process for ARTC's RPO.

The RPO will establish a transportation planning process in the rural areas of southwest Alabama and serve as a formal link between the ALDOT and the local governments.

Members of the Clarke County Committee are Brian Leathers, Tyrone Moye, Lee Duke and Marty Parker. Grove Hill Mayor Lamar Hudson serves as the governmental liaison for the committee.

The counties included in the RPO are Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox.

The RPO will provide government officials and citizens in these counties an opportunity to advise the ALDOT on road, bridge and other transportation projects.
