COMMUNITY CALENDAR BOE meets today The Clarke County Board of Education will meet Thursday, (today), March 22 at 4 p.m. Items on the agenda will include minutes, superintendent's report, adoption of textbooks, purchase of AMSTI Math Materials, proposed change in uniform dress for Coffeeville High School, proposed school calendar, personnel, bills, accounts and payroll. Historical Society meets The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. This month there will be a show and tell program. Everyone is asked to bring an item of historic or local interest to present. These programs have been very popular in the past. Rockbar Baptist Colorama Program Rockbar Baptist Church located on Highway 69 North of Coffeeville will have its Annual Colorama Program Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Donald Reeds and members of the New Union Baptist Church will be the special guests. Rev. Amos Hill is the pastor. VFW Post 5106 meets The VFW Post 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting Monday, March 26 at 7 p.m. All members are invited to attend. GHMH Auxiliary meet Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary will have a meeting Wednesday, March 28 at 9 a.m. in the conference room of Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. The guest speaker will be Dr. Eniola Fagbongbe, OB-GYN to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital and Grove Hill Healthcare, PC. CCHS selling BBQ The Clarke County High School Boosters Club will be selling barbeque plates for $5 on Thursday, March 29 from 11 a.m. until at the school. Mackey Branch Youth Revival set Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church will have a Youth Revival Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The speaker Thursday will be Rev. Thaddeus Dykes III and Friday night, Rev. Wesley Steadmire. Ethel Evans is the secretary. Rev. Dave Adams is the pastor. Relay for Life team selling salad plates The Clarke County Courthouse Relay for Life team is currently taking orders for chicken salad sandwich plates. All proceeds will benefit the Grove Hill's annual Relay for Life. Plates are $5 each and they can be picked up beginning at 11 a.m. in the basement of the courthouse on Friday, March 30. Anyone wishing to order a plate can contact Sylvia Fuller at 275-3251, the License Commission office at 275-4141 or Maurice Dyess at 275-8156. "STRIDES" Walk set Members of the Thomasville Lions and District 34N Lions Clubs along with friends and families will participate in the "STRIDES" Walk for Diabetes Awareness on Saturday, March 31. Registration will take place at 7 a.m. The walk will start at 8 a.m. at the Thomasville Baptist Church. The walk will be no more than two blocks with a fee of $10. Relay for Life softball tourney Infirmary Hospice Care will be holding a Relay for Life softball tournament on Saturday, March 31 at S.P. Hudson Park in Grove Hill. Local businesses and groups are encouraged to form a team and sign up for a day of fun with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Registration fee is $50. This can be paid at the Infirmary Hospice Care office at 127 E Clarke Street in Grove Hill or call for more information at 1- 866-201-5603 Trophies will be given to winning teams. Coffeeville RSVP Tea The Coffeeville Retired Senior Volunteer program will host a tea Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Nutrition Center. Donna Phillips, Director of the Southwest Alabama RSVP will be giving an informative lecture on the importance of this program and the need for more volunteers in this area. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a friend. Crops for Cancer Clarke-Washington Electric Membership Corporation's Relay for Life team will host a scrapbooking crop to benefit the American Cancer Society Friday, April 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. the CWEMC office located at 1307 College Avenue in Jackson. Donate $10 to CWEMC's Relay for Life team and bring your supplies and a friend as they "Crop for Cancer." Call Anna Wright at CWEMC at 251-246-9081 by Tuesday, April 10 to register. Rikard's Mill reopens Rikard's Mill will have its annual reopening Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Rikard's Mill features the grist mill turning out meal and grits again as it has done since Jake Rikard first established a grist mill on Flat Creek in 1845. See blacksmithing, enjoy arts and crafts, story telling and listen to bluegrass, southern gospel and country music all day long. BBQ will be available. Rikard's Mill is located between Monroeville and Camden on Highway 265, five miles north of Beatrice. All arts and crafts vendors please call to make reservations. Diabetic support group meets Diabetic Support Group will meet quarterly at the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
