Lions' highest honor
Coma Horton, right, is presented with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from Lions Clubs International by Grove Hill club president Tommy Phillips recently. Horton is a charter member of the Grove Hill club, joining when it was formed on June 7, 1974 and he has always been very active in the organization. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International and the award is the highest honor that can be bestowed on Lions members. Lions are known for their humanitarian work in communities worldwide, including eye needs of disadvantaged children. In addition to the plaque, Horton also received a lapel pin. The local club will receive a banner patch and a chevron in honor of Horton's award.
