Bulldogs down Mobile Christian in key area game

Facing a bases-loaded situation, Robert Malone struck out the side as the Clarke County High School Bulldogs beat Mobile Christian 5-4 in Mobile last Thursday.

Malone struck out the number four, five and six hitters to preserve the win. In the game he fanned 11 batters and gave up just seven hits.

Tyler Walker started the game off with a solo home run. Josh Watford went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Justin Robinson went 1-for- 3 with an RBI. Malone, Terrance Frazier and Danny Norris each added a hit.

This past weekend the Bulldogs traveled to Mobile to play Williamson and Citronelle in a double-header.

CCHS beat Williamson in game two 16-12.

Hunter Cross had three hits, including a double and triple as well as three RBI. Malone had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Josh Watford and Chris Andrews each had two hits and an RBI.

Justin Fendley (1-0) got the win as he pitched the first five frames. Norris picked up the save.

In the first game Clarke County lost 12-7.

Cross had three hits, with a double and two RBI. Watford also had three hits with a double and an RBI. Dewayne Owens added two hits.

Watford started the game and lasted five innings before yielding to Norris (0-3) who got the loss. He pitched two innings.

Tuesday afternoon CCHS traveled to Monroeville to play Monroe County. This weekend they play in the Pizza Pro Tournament in Thomasville.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
