Lady Gators beat Taylor Road 16-0

The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators made short of the visiting Taylor Road team last Friday as they pounded out a 16-0 win.

Anna Hicks went 3-for-3 with two RBI to pace the team at the plate. Corrie Allen went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Kay Kay Grocholl went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Jessica McKinley went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Tess Ackerman and Haley Hill each had a hit and an RBI. Courtney Dunagan and Whitney Gavin each added a hit.

Grocholl tossed four shut-out innings to get the win. She also struck out four batters.

Last Thursday Clarke Prep blanked Wilcox Academy 15-0 behind Allen's near-perfect three innings on the mound. Only an error in the second inning kept it from being a perfect gem.

Ackerman had the hot stick as she went 3-for-3 with a triple, home run and four RBI. Allen went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Stephanie Sales was 3- for-3 with a double and four RBI. Hill went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. McKinley, Grocholl and Gavin each added a hit.

The Lady Gators hosted Monroe Academy Tuesday afternoon. Thursday (today) they host Morgan Academy. Friday they take to the road to play top-ranked Tuscaloosa Academy.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
